I Un Du do U Un Du?
One of my favorite scrapbooking (& household) products Un Du may disappear from the shelves forever. As a messy scrapper, this product has saved many a project and it has even aided in the removal of stickers from unmentioned children. Imagine my dismay when I discovered that this product may no longer exist.
Warning: anti PC rant. Turn back now, while there's still time.
Here's the dealio - I called the company to find out for myself. They told me that California (the left winged capitol - *my words, not theirs), recently passed a law that said that products such as Un Du can no longer be sold in the state because they aren't "environmentally friendly". The company is considering pulling the product because other states are considering this same law.
Now, I love the environment. I recycle, reduce & reuse on a daily basis. Heck, my daughter was even a girlscout! But for the love of granola and all things nutty, please tell me what will take the place of this beloved product? Tree bark? Nah, too scratchy. And don't even try to tell me that Goo Gone will work. Maybe on some household stuff but not my photographs or projects. Al Gore line one.
So, I have made a purchase of this contraband product and plan on storing it in my basement along with my cans of Freon. If you want to report me, the freon part is a joke - but if you are bored, you can call PETA and let them know that I ate a delish chicken for dinner with a side of spotted owl. Taste great with a little salt.

HEHEHEHEHAHAHAHHAHA...this is GREAT!

I am laughing through my tears...they simply cannot --- repeat --- cannot take away our precious UNDO! I say make those silly Californians who don't think UNDO is a "to do" do without -- it will only make the whole state fall into the pacific ocean FASTER! (ok...I don't REALLY want them to fall into the ocean -- just saying if they keep making silly decisions -- then it just COULD happen). I'll sign the petition...Keep our UNDO...Keep our UNDO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I do un du, and do I fear the end of undu? I do! What shall we do?
PS - I am in that left-winged state at this very moment!

I will be storing the Un Du in my basement too....along with the CFC laden hairspray! You do know that CFC free hairspray holds your hair for all of 10 seconds right! Forget about the rest of the seconds of the day though.

California sux at stuff like this. This summer I realized that our favorite fresh salt-water taffy maker there was ordered to stop making the peanut butter flavor (which was my fave) by Cal-OSHA. I guess too much peanut allergy risk. Man...they really are a bunch of buzz kils, aren't they?!?!

Ok, so that was fun reading but I'm in deep doo doo because I need a bottle and can't find it anywhere. Anyone have any ideas on what to take the place of it. I have photos that have been in those magnetic photo albums (yes, me too)for well over 40 years. I tried removing with a knife but that doesn't work too well. Any help would be appreciated and you know what I'd like to say to those wonderful governmental types in CA don't ya?

Hey, I was just at our local Office Max. They have four 4-oz bottles left for $5.50 a bottle. Send me an email, I can run and pick them up for you.

I've got GOOD NEWS!
un-du is back! The originator of un-du products sold his business back in 1996. Now he acquired it back and is producing products again!
We have been (until production was shut down last year) an online retailer of the entire line of un-du products.
un-du will be ready to ship March 10, scrapers and all!
our website is aspenshopsonline.com
Thanks for the opportunity to share this with you!

I am the facilities manager at my church and started using un-du to remove name plates on walls without damaging the paint. I thought the product smelled familiar. I refilled the un-du bottle with Carter's rubber cement thinner that we buy from office supply stores. It works the same. Also the company that makes goo gone makes a product called sticker lifter.

Just checked, Sticker lifter is just Goo Gone and will not work the same as Un-Du. Use Un-Du or the rubber cement thhinner. I have been using it for 6 years.
